FAQs
Understanding the Process
Where are you located?
Restored Hope Counseling’s main office is located in the Highlands Ranch area:
54 Woodland Circle, Highlands Ranch, CO, 80126
Just to let you know, we office out of our home. We are happy to invite you in. Please arrive on time, knock on the front door, and your therapist will let you in.
We also have therapists who have offices in Fort Collins, Centennial, Castle Rock and Parker Colorado, and every one of us offers Telehealth therapy.
Remind me…why am I starting counseling?
You reached out because something has happened in your life and you can’t stuff things down any longer.
There needs to be a change. What you’ve been doing is not working any longer.
You want to move toward a vibrant, purposeful, and joyful life.
Will I cry in front of you?
You probably will. We keep plenty of tissue on-hand for just that reason. Oh, and it is highly likely that we will cry right along with you…another reason for tissue.
How long are sessions?
Sessions generally run the standard 50 minutes.
Sometimes it is helpful to have longer sessions. When necessary, these longer sessions are pro-rated on each additional ½ hour. Feel free to ask your therapist if you can schedule longer sessions.
Do I have to tell you everything?
Of course, it helps to be open and honest, but what you share with us is completely up to you. What’s more…you share what is relevant when you are ready and not a minute before. This is your space.
What are your fees and forms of payment? Do you accept insurance payments?
We charge $135 per 50-minute session for individuals, $165 for 50-minute couple and family sessions. We accept check, cash, all major credit cards, and HSA debit cards using SimplePractice. You can even keep a card securely on file.
We accept Colorado Medicaid, Aetna and United Health Care. Some clinicians also accept Medicare.
What if I can’t afford counseling?
There is a good chance if you have insurance that it will pay for most if not all of your sessions.
For those without mental health insurance, getting counseling may seem out of reach. We never want the cost to become a barrier to getting the help you need. Bottom line… you are worth it!
That is why we offer a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis. You may also consider asking family and friends for help or inquire about assistance from your place of worship if you have one.
It may feel as though the sacrifice is too big… then again, living your best life is priceless.
Do you do both in person and online sessions?
Yes, we have therapists that can meet with you in person in Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Fort Collins, Castle Rock or Parker.
We also offer online sessions through our HIPPA compliant Electronic Health Record SimplePractice. It’s easy. SimplePractice will send you a link, you click on it, and we can see and talk confidentially to each other.
Whether we meet in person or online doesn’t matter to us – whatever works best for you.
Will I fill out forms before my first session?
Yes. Once we know your email address, we will send you a link to our HIPPA compliant Electronic Health Record system SimplePractice. You can fill out all your forms easily on-line – no need to print anything.
What is your cancellation policy?
There will always be that one time you need to cancel last-minute. Life happens after all.
Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time/date will be charged at the full-fee rate.
Do you provide a free consultation?
Absolutely! We prefer to do a free, 15-minute phone consultation with every client before scheduling the first session. We want to make sure that we can provide what you need and that we are a good counseling fit.
Why counseling? Can’t I just talk to my friends and family?
We believe that having a healthy support network of people around you is critical to your therapy journey. However, you may need more.
When you come into our office for counseling, this is your “safe space” to say anything you need confidentially and without judgement… where you come to talk about anything.
Here, you will learn that you matter. Here, we are present with each client, listening to each person and their unique story and helping them write a new next chapter.
What can I expect from therapy?
The expectations actually come from both of us.
We promise we will:
- pay attention with empathy, curiosity, and depth
- provide a comforting presence and space
- offer a completely judgment-free environment
- work to understand the issues that are hindering you as you experience them
- attend to your thoughts and feelings (not direct them)
- work to understand the relationship between us to gain insight into your interpersonal characteristics
- be open and honest with you
In turn, you will:
- commit to weekly sessions
- tell your stories when you are ready
- be honest about your thoughts and feelings, especially those which are hardest to admit
- bring your questions and experiences about your relationships
- be willing to practice between sessions what you have learned in session
With both of us committing to the above, I guarantee we will do the good work of finding healing and movement for you.
Have you ever been to therapy?
In our unique, individual stories, and our together story, we have found therapy to be helpful and necessary. We have experienced much of what you have.
What about spirituality?
We are Christian in our values and beliefs. We are skilled in bringing spirituality into the counseling session when requested.
We also respect that this is not where every client is coming from, nor does every client want spirituality as part of counseling.
This is your choice as we believe you should always have the choice in what your therapy looks like. This is your time and your healing space.
