Having It All Together
Have you ever wondered if therapists have it all together?
Well, I don’t know about all therapists, but I do know that I am human and struggle just like you.
I am a divorced dad with 4 children who remarried a divorced mom with 3 children. We are 10-plus years into blending our wonderfully chaotic families together.
I understand the challenges, and I know what it feels like to NOT have it all together!
My Love for This Work
I have come to understand that life, and really living, encompasses both joys and difficulties. My passion is helping others overcome life challenges and live a more fulfilling, passionate life.
Much of my training occurred throughout life, muddling through my own circumstances: trauma related to my family of origin, struggling through divorce, and learning to find my way of healing.
That is part of why I do what I do… I appreciate the value of having someone to walk with you through the toughest hurts, most painful memories, and most difficult challenges.
Education and Professional Training
Although life can be our biggest teacher, academia still played an important role in my becoming a counselor.
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling at Metropolitan State University of Denver. This was followed by a Master’s in Counseling from Denver Seminary.
During this time, I practiced in residential treatment for adolescent girls, participated in providing therapeutic services in the community, and worked in a community mental health center with a variety of clients looking for many of the things you are.
Benefit from my experience!
You will benefit from my experience in creating a safe space to process life’s challenges—whether it’s depression, anxiety, tough families, rough marriages, or teens who are acting out.
You will find the help you need for yourself and your family.
